Hello Pretty Providence readers!! This is Shonee from Hawthorne and Main, and I am so so excited to be here with you today!
Valentines day is just around the corner. At my house I usually don’t go all out and decorate for valentines day but I do like to add a few bits of red here and there. Today I am going to show you how to make this feather heart with the black and white stripped board. It is sure to get you in the Valentines day mood!!!
Supplies:
1/2 in piece of mdf
2 inch painters tape
white paint
black paint
scrap piece of card board
6ft red feather boa- got mine at Joanns
scrap piece of cardboard
small nail or tack
craft glue
First lets start by making the black and white board. Take a piece of mdf board and cut it down to 22.5 x 17 inches. Paint the entire board white first and let it get really dry. If you don’t wait for it to dry really well the painters tape can take up some of the paint when you remove it.
After the white paint is really dry add 6 piece of painters tape. Push them down really well and paint in each stripe black. As soon as you are done painting remove the tape and let the paint dry.

Next grab a scrap piece of card board (I used a cold cereal box.) Cut it into the shape of a heart.

Next grab your boa and your glue. Lay out your boa on the cardboard. After you are happy with the way it is laid out carefully lift up sections of the boa and add glue down.

You certainly could just glue the boa directly onto the board. If you would like to use this board again for a different holiday or occasion simple use a small tack and hammer to attach the card board heart to the striped board.
This was a really easy fun project. This little pop of color really has made my home feel fun and cheery!
How do you guys decorate for Valentines Day??

This is really pretty and creative! I love the contrast between the feathers and the board and the black stripes makes the heart really pop.

This is so cute and I love the different materials you used. I think my boys would love the feathers too!
Hey Sydney! I think that this one would totally be a good one to involve the kids. They might want to play with the feathers first, haha! This one is super easy!!
