My best friend Pam from Over the Big Moon had her baby girl on Friday morning! So exciting!! I can’t wait for her to meet Nora and become best buddies. Living away from home can be hard sometimes, and Pam and her family have really been like family to us. She did so much to help me through those first tough months with two babies and I wanted to do something special for her when baby came. I kept going back and forth between getting things she would need or things that were a little more fun, so finally I decided to do both!

The first basket is full of the fun stuff… things she might want!

You can put anything you think your prospective mama might love, but here’s what I put in Pam’s basket to give you some ideas. Her favorite candy bar, favorite soda, gum, nail polish, a new shirt, bath and body lotion and a gift card to her favorite local drink place.
The second basket is full of things she might need.. This basket illustrates the unglamorous truth that is the postpartum period! I tried to think of things I either used a lot after Nora was born or wished I had had!
Here’s what I put in Pam’s “needs” basket. Moist flushable wipes, tissues, pads, panty liners, an ice pack, a pill case (I needed one of these so bad! I am the worst at remembering when I last took a pill!), a hot and cold relief patch, a pregnancy test (joke), a couple chap sticks and hand sanitizer!
If you want to use the same printable signs that I used then you can find them here. After I cut mine out I stuck them on some cardstock so that they would be a little bit sturdier and pop a bit more.
Although the gift looks pretty intense, it really didn’t cost a ton of money. I found my baskets and a lot of the “needs” at the dollar store or Walmart. Pick a few things (like a clothing article or a gift card) that you want to splurge on and then fill in your baskets with the cheaper stuff! I think it would make a fun shower gift too if you are wanting to get something for mama and baby :).

This is great! There are things I wish I had known I would need after my first baby. I will keep this in mind for the next first time mom friend. Thanks for sharing.
