This project is actually not mine, but my innovative husband Jacob's. For some reason regular over-the-door wreath hangers do not fit under our door frames. It is confusing. So when I couldn't hang my wreaths I was a little bummed, but then one day I came home and they were hanging on the door...with wire hangers. Why didn't I think of that?! Here's how he did it:
As you can see in the picture above, he left the top part curved and just straightened out the rest. The top of the hanger, we'll call it the hook, will be the bottom part of the wreath hanger- the part you actually hold the wreath on. (see below.) Then you can just take the hook end and figure out where you want it to be on your door. Open the door and fold the long end over the door and bend it to fit. If you want to make it tighter you can use pliers to bend it neatly. Then just make a nice looking triangle and twist the excess back together as you see above. It should take all of five minutes and you're done!

My grandma did this but used recycled yarn to adorn the wire or it looks plain ugly.
A ribbon tacked on top of the door frame works as well

Quick question? What is the length of this? I have an extremely tall front door and need a hanger that is between 28 and 30 inches long

What a very neat and clever way to make your own wreath hanger. We love it! Keep these great ideas coming.
