I love ice cream. The trouble is, ice cream isn't that cheap and it isn't that healthy. So, instead of regularly stuffing my face with ice cream I try to save it for special occasions and trick myself into eating smoothies instead. (I'm sneaky like that). I have come to love smoothies because they satisfy my sweet tooth while maintaining a semblance of healthfulness.

This smoothie is one of my faves. It came into existence because it just happened to be what I had on hand at the time and it was such a success that now I make it all the time.

Would you like to know something about me? I hate bananas. I know, I know, I am a freak of nature. EVERYBODY loves bananas. Except me. However, if you have a banana flavored mickey mouse ear sucker from Disneyland I will take it. Please and thank you.

So basically I love this smoothie recipe because unlike every other smoothie recipe on the planet it requires no bananas. I also love the oats because they make a thicker smoothie and it completely fills me up.

    Here is the recipe:
    ½ cup ice
    ½ cup (heaping) frozen strawberries
½ cup peaches (canned or fresh)
½ cup yogurt any kind (I usually use plain, nonfat)
    ¾ cup milk
    ¾ cup oats
1 tablespoon sweetener (I use splenda but sugar or honey should work just as well)

    Hope you enjoy it!
*This recipe yields about 3 ½ cups.

Yes! You definitely can. I like the oats because they thicken it up a bit, so you will have to play with the consistency a bit. My husband likes it better without though so I know it tastes great either way!
