Hello, again! I am Brenda visiting from From Me, With Love. I can probably write down a list (a very short list) of chores we like to do around here. One that would not be on it is....doing the laundry. Sure putting it in is easy but then remembering to put it in the dryer, then actually putting it in the dryer and then folding it..... ugh. It is such a long process on a never ending cycle.
I told myself that if my laundry room was cuter I'd be sure to do the laundry more often. Not sure if that holds any truth but I will say I don't run away from the laundry room which means it is cute enough.
My oldest is almost 6 and the next one is 3.5 years old. I think that's plenty old enough to help with the laundry. What I usually do is get the clothes out from the wash and set it on the dryer door and the younger ones will push the clothes into the dryer. Then I have them place the clothes in the correct owner's bucket. Sure it takes a little bit longer, but they actually race each other to see who can get the most clothes in. I can't fold fast enough!
To make it easier, I designed these printable modern labels that you can use on your laundry baskets- or wherever you need to label something! These are from Ikea and I just stuck the label on them since I printed them on sticker paper. If you don't have sticker paper, print on regular paper and use washi tape or punch a hole in it and tie it around the handle with a fun ribbon.
These will totally make you want to go into that laundry room more and get to work..... maybe. Or maybe at least it will make it easier for everyone to know which bucket is theirs so they can put their own clothes away! One can only dream, right?
Make sure to check out my snack guide to feed those hard working kids of yours!
And it's never out of season to be thankful- make sure the kids write down "always having clean clothes to wear" on this printable place mat. Kidding.
