Birthday in a flat rate box! Fun idea to send to a loved one, too far away to celebrate with! Hey everybody! I hope you are enjoying birthday week as much as we are! I am a celebrator by nature, so I like to make as big a deal as possible about things like birthdays without breaking the bank. Sometimes this can be tricky, but I've found that most people just like to be remembered. Making an effort is what really makes people feel special. A couple years ago we moved away from "home" and so we typically aren't there to celebrate the birthdays of most of our loved ones and close friends. When it comes to gifts for our parents we have become super boring and we are always sending amazon gift cards (because they are so easy and who wouldn't want that?) but we haven't really done anything special for anyone else and I've been feeling left out from all the excitement!

The problem with mailing gifts is that we typically don't have much money in the budget to buy gifts at all, let alone mail them after we've bought them. Then, I was at the post office the other day and I was struck with a genius idea. Why not buy the smallest flat rate box and just fit as much birthday cheer into it as possible? Like Sarah, I hoard party supplies, so I knew I wouldn't have to buy much (if anything) to make this come together.

A genius idea of how to celebrate loved ones birthdays who are far away... without breaking the bank! Here is what I included in my box:

    -balloons

-chocolate bar tied with a fun ribbon

    -sparklers

    -skinny sparkler candles

    -fun paper straws

    -festive birthday garland

    -cold stone gift card

A genius idea of how to celebrate loved ones birthdays who are far away... without breaking the bank! The flat rate box that I bought ships for $5.80. Fill your box with whatever you have on hand that is fun and festive. You can make confetti using a hole punch and colored paper, make a banner using the same colored paper, have your kids draw pictures... whatever! I threw a gift card in mind because we have like three ten dollar cold stone gift cards right now, but even without it who wouldn't smile getting this in the mail? Most everything else in this picture was found in the Walmart or Target party aisles on clearance at one point or another for less than $1.00.

A genius idea of how to celebrate loved ones birthdays who are far away... without breaking the bank! How fun would this be to open up?! Hope you have fun spreading some birthday cheer!

    xoxo,

    jessica

This is such a great idea! I don't live by my family either and it gets so expensive to send gifts. I'm going to steal this idea! So fun and smart.

So much fun! I'd love to get sparklers in the mail. I bought some craft paper padded envelopes from an office supply store that I use to ship gifts- they ship for next to nothing and I love the look of the craft paper :)
