For the first three months of my baby's life I didn't have to buy one diaper. This was thanks to the many friends and family who gave us the practical gift of diapers before she had even arrived. Her closet was FULL of both newborn size and size 1's. Knowing I didn't have to worry about running out gave me a lot of peace of mind in the first few months. The thing I didn't think of beforehand was keeping a basket of diaper changing supplies in multiple rooms. Inevitably parents will change diapers wherever they spend a lot of time; like in the main living area as well as their bedroom and the nursery. So after a while I decided I wanted some nice baskets to keep the supplies in just for tidiness' sake and then I thought that this exact thing would be a cute gift idea for any expecting friends. Diaper basket as a baby shower gift!
How to: find a pretty basket or two, or three depending on how generous you are feeling. Fill the basket with diapers, wipes, a colorful towel and boudreaux's butt paste. (The stuff is amazing.) Tuck tissue paper around the items and tie a bow around the outside of the basket.
Isn't it nice? The towel is definitely optional but I find them handy to keep around for quick changes - it's just something to put under the baby when you're changing him or her on the sofa, for instance. And I like colors rather than white, well because, you know.

I just ended up putting everything into a cubby in my entertainment center. Easy enough to shut the door, and you never see it. But I have a small house and we were always in the living room...so it worked great.
