This post is in partnership with Creativebug. All opinions and text and fangirling are my own.

I used to think that I wasn’t a creative person. I wasn’t “good” at drawing or painting or anything visible, that I knew of. For some reason I had it in my head that if I wasn’t inherently good at something, then I never would be. Now as an adult I know that’s ridiculous, but it took me forever to figure that out. Even a few years ago before Jessica and I started this blog, I honestly didn’t think I was good enough at anything to justify blogging. Now I get a little sad thinking about how long I waited to even start TRYING to find my creative passions! What the heck, you guys! Anyway, I am living proof that you don’t have to be an expert to share something you’ve made with the world. I think there is joy in the learning process, and it’s fun to have someone to share that process with, whether that’s a friend who shares your hobby or a few people who read your blog. The point is, we all need a creative outlet and sometimes you just have to try a bunch of things to figure out what you are good at and what you like.

What does this story have to do with ornaments and gift toppers you ask? Well… you may remember me posting about my amazing weekend in California in the summer where I took craft classes led by Creativebug. Trying all of those new crafts that I never would have attempted before that inspired me SO much. I realized that I really need to slow down sometimes and take time to just create for the sake of creating.

Coloring, watercoloring, calligraphy, and doodling are some things that I find intensely relaxing and I am basically addicted to taking classes because I miss school. Haha. Creativebug is a site where you can take classes in basically every craft that exists. It’s a subscription thing and it’s very affordable, plus I have a killer deal to share with you at the end of this post. The other day I took this doodled ornaments and gift toppers course and busted out some fun ones to use this Christmas! I love how they turned out and this time of year don’t we all need to take some time to wind down and just doodle? Well this is productive doodling! The best kind… you should take it too. Trust me.

I am going for a very mid-century modern kind of feel in my decor lately so I took inspiration from the shapes and patterns you often see in 60’s for these toppers, following the basic steps the class recommended. Easy as pie!

This is a fun way to personalize gifts and even if you use them as a topper first, the person you give it to can totally keep it and use it as an ornament forever! So that’s like a bonus gift. Right?

I have been dying to take a line drawing class next and I’m totally gonna do it over Christmas while my parents are playing with my toddler! Haha. They have tons of holiday themed classes right now as well as every day ones… you should check out everything Creativebug offers and I’m guessing you’ll proceed to put “creativebug subscription” on your Christmas list…

So are you ready to hear about the amazing deal they have going on right now? Give a one-year subscription, GET a one-year subscription free! Yep, two 12-month subscriptions for $50. If you know someone who loves to craft (and really, who doesn’t?) this is the perfect gift for them, and this way you are technically not shopping for yourself but still kind of giving yourself an awesome gift too. #blessed. If you are extremely selfless you can gift them both. Now run! Getcha some of this! Deal ends on December 31. What classes are you dying to take?! I’d love to hear!
