Super easy and delicious chocolate rice crispy treats! Perfect summer treat for when you don't want to turn on those ovens!

Yesterday we were invited to a friend's family get together and our assignment was to bring "finger treats" for the kids. My mind went immediately to a rice krispie squares recipe but I wanted to spice it up a bit. I am a chocolate lover, so I thought, why couldn't we make them with coco pebbles instead? Of course it was a fabulous idea! Everything is better in chocolate form, am I right?! Enter easy and delicious chocolate rice krispies!

Let me tell you, they were a hit! Sometimes it is so easy to feel like you have to do some big elaborate thing in order for it to be cute or festive, but you don't. I love how this was so simple, but still yummy and fun. The kids gobbled these chocolate rice krispie squares right up!

When we were newly married my husband surprised me with this cookie cutter set. I love it so much! I use them tons and I know they will get even more use as the kiddies get older. Another great thing about this recipe is that it is super easy to cut these chocolate rice Krispie treats into shapes fit for any special occasion!

How do you make the best chocolate rice krispies?

It's so easy! Here's the recipe.

So easy right?! Now let's get to a few frequently asked questions:

How long will rice krispie treats last?

Typically rice krispie treats only stay soft and fresh for about two days. I've found if you cut up your squares and put them in a gallon zip lock bag, then suck all the air out of the bag they will last a lot longer. I don't keep mine for more than a week though!

Can rice krispie treats be frozen?

Yes. Cut your rice krispies prior to freezing and store in an airtight container. Use freezer paper between layers to avoid sticking. Let thaw at room temperature.
