Loaded Crock Pot Mashed potatoes are the PERFECT side to bring to any pot luck gathering! So easy and so GOOD! I must admit, the first time I tried mashed potatoes in the crock-pot it kinda changed my world. Mashed potatoes can be time consuming and it is so nice to be able to prepare a delicious side dish early and have it ready to go at dinner time! I love loaded mashed potatoes and knew then that I had to figure out how to make them work in the crock-pot…

Well, since that first fateful time, I have experimented with tons of different crock-pot potato combinations and let me tell you, here’s my masterpiece! These slow cooker loaded mashed potatoes are a must make recipe! Are you ready for it?

Equipment

  • Slow Cooker

Ingredients

  • 5 lb potatoes peeled
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 3/4 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 4 TBS butter
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 3 cups cheddar cheese finely shredded
  • 8 slices bacon crumbled
  • 3 TBS chives

Instructions

  • Place potatoes, water, garlic, and salt in slow cooker. Cover and cook on LOW for 4-6 hours, or until potatoes are tender. Drain excess water from potatoes. 
  • Mash the potatoes with a potato masher or a fork. Add in sour cream, milk, and butter and blend with hand blender or potato masher until desired consistency. 
  • Stir in cheddar cheese, bacon and chives. Keep on warm setting until ready to serve. Salt and pepper to taste.

Notes

Always spray your slow cooker with cooking spray before to help make clean up a breeze!

    Did you cut them (how big) before cooking the potatoes?

      Yes, I cubed them a little larger than bite size. The smaller you cut them the quicker they will cook.
