Children's Nativity Set
So back to the project...I couldn't be happier with the final product! I made this cute magnetic Nativity set in about a half hour and for a total of $8.
First, find some illustrated Nativity clipart that you like. I bought this digital file: children's nativity set from Citrus & Mint on Etsy.
To be clear, we are not offering this clipart as we do not have the right to distribute it. To make this project, you will need to buy some clipart or find a set that is royalty-free.
This is a tutorial to make the magnetic nativity from whatever clipart you choose to use.
How to Print this Kids Nativity Set on Magnet Sheets
Materials Needed for a Magnetic Nativity Scene:
For the best results, I highly recommend getting glossy white magnetic sheets. I've tried a lot of brands and my favorite is the Staples brand. I was able to print off my nativity set on just 2 sheets (the figures being about 3 inches tall) so that means it's only a little over $4.50 per Nativity set plus whatever you pay for the nativity clip art itself. Not bad!
How to prepare the clipart for printing:
- Pull all of the pieces of clipart for the Nativity set into a program like Google Docs or Microsoft Word.
- Resize the clipart to whatever size you want. To keep it all to scale, use the percentage to resize them. I changed each image by height scale from 100% t0 30%.
- Check that all of the images look like they were sized correctly. You can make them whatever size you want as long as none of the clipart is larger than 8x11.
- Print the pages onto magnetic sheets. Use the highest quality setting for your printer.
- Let the ink completely dry before cutting.
Once you get everything cut out you are done! Now have a cute magnetic children's Nativity set to decorate your fridge or door with. You can even make this portable for the kids by putting the magnets on a cookie sheet. Magnetic nativity scenes make really cute gifts, too!
I had my little girl test it out and she loved it! It kept her entertained while I made dinner so I'll call it a success! Not to mention the Nativity set held up really well.
Here are some printable instructions for you. If you make this nativity set, please leave us a comment and positive review! They mean a lot to us.
