    Easy Coffee Cake Recipe FAQ's

    1. What is coffee cake?
      • Coffee cake is a type of cake that is typically enjoyed with coffee or tea. It's known for its crumbly streusel topping and often has flavors like cinnamon, nuts, or fruit.
    2. Is there coffee in coffee cake?
      • Coffee cake is called "coffee cake" because it pairs well with coffee, but it doesn't typically contain coffee as an ingredient. The name is more about the tradition of enjoying it alongside a cup of coffee.
    3. Can I make coffee cake in advance?

      • Yes, you can make coffee cake in advance. It often tastes even better the next day as the flavors have had time to meld. Store it in an airtight container at room temperature or in the refrigerator.
    4. How do I store coffee cake?

      • Store coffee cake in an airtight container or wrap it tightly in plastic wrap. It can be stored at room temperature for up to 2 days or in the refrigerator for longer freshness.
    5. Can I freeze coffee cake?

      • Yes, you can freeze coffee cake. Wrap it tightly in plastic wrap and aluminum foil to prevent freezer burn. It can be stored in the freezer for up to 2-3 months. Thaw it in the refrigerator before reheating.
    6. How do I reheat coffee cake?

      • To reheat coffee cake, you can use an oven or microwave. In the oven, preheat it at a low temperature (around 300°F or 150°C) and warm it for about 10-15 minutes until it's heated through. In the microwave, use a low power setting and heat it in short intervals to avoid overcooking.
    7. Can I customize the streusel topping?
      • Yes! Feel free to add chopped nuts (e.g., pecans or walnuts) or even some rolled oats to the streusel topping for extra texture and flavor.

    Coffee Cake Pro Tips

    1. Use high-quality ingredients: The quality of your ingredients, especially the butter, vanilla extract, and cinnamon, can greatly affect the flavor of your coffee cake. Using premium ingredients can make a noticeable difference in the final result.
    2. Don't over mix the batter: Over mixing can lead to a tough and dense cake. Mix the wet and dry ingredients until they are just combined. It's okay if there are a few lumps in the batter; they will disappear during baking.
    3. Use room temperature eggs and milk: Bringing your egg and milk to room temperature before using them in the batter will help ensure even mixing and a more even rise in the cake.
    4. Grease and flour the baking dish thoroughly: Properly greasing and flouring your baking dish will help the cake release easily after baking without sticking to the pan. You can also use parchment paper to line the bottom for extra insurance.
    5. Check for doneness with a toothpick: To determine if the cake is done baking, insert a toothpick into the center. If it comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs, the cake is ready. If it comes out with wet batter, continue baking for a few more minutes and retest.

Great, easy recipe. I did not use the icing and I am glad I didn’t. It would’ve been way too sweet. I will make this again for a special treat for my husband’s sweet tooth.
