Have you got Lego fans at your house? Create a Lego Christmas tree! Building Lego Christmas ornaments is a really fun holiday activity for families.
Lego Christmas Tree
Hi friends! Lego has been one of the recurring themes of the past year for my family. Our daughters are obsessed and my husband has always been a huge Lego fan, so I decided to jump on the bandwagon with them. We even took a trip to Legoland Florida for Spring Break! Anyway, last Christmas I wanted to do something fun as a family during the holiday break so we created this Lego Christmas tree. Everyone made some ornaments out of Lego bricks and I came up with the large Lego ornaments made out of cardstock. I also wanted to wrap presents like Legos too. See our Lego box tutorial to see how to wrap presents like large Lego bricks!
We re-used the supplies in February to make a Valentine's box. If you like themed Christmas trees, you should also check out our Harry Potter Christmas Tree, our Woodland Christmas Tree, or browse all of our Christmas tree decorations.

Large Lego Christmas Ornaments
Materials:
- Light cardstock bright colors
- Paper cutter optional
- Circle cutter optional
- Tacky glue
- Hot glue gun
- Toilet paper poll
- 12-pack soda box or similar small cardboard box
Instructions
- Put your small cardboard box onto cardstock and fold paper to fit around the box, as if you are wrapping a present.
- Cut off extra bits of paper from the corners of the cardstock so that the edges are not bulky.
- Glue the paper onto the edges of the box
- Cut a toilet paper roll into four pieces, making four cardboard rings. Measure the width of the cardboard rings and cut strips of paper to fit around the perimeter of them.
- Measure the radius of the outside of the cardboard rings. Using a circle paper cutter or craft knife, cut a circle for each cardboard ring.
- Glue the paper strips around the edges of the paper rings. Then put glue on the edges of the paper ring and press it onto the circle piece.
- Use hot glue to attach the circles to the top of the wrapped box.
- Put it on your tree!
I just love how these turned out! They did kind of take a long time to make so I stopped after I made 5. I did them while I watched Christmas movies, so it was a nice holiday activity.
More Lego Christmas Ornaments
My daughter gave me permission to share some of the ornaments they made for the tree as well.
My absolute favorite is this nativity that she made - she is 8 years old and came up with this all on her own. What! I also want to state that baby Lego minifigs are the cutest thing ever.
Pizza, always and forever. Also a creation by the 8-year-old.
This clear plastic ornament was fun to fill with little Lego bricks.
Here is a closer look at the wrapped presents. They were quite the labor of love but my kids and nephews loved them!
Lego Christmas Tree
I have a really cheap, old white Christmas tree that I bought from FB marketplace a few years ago. I love decorating it with colorful ornaments, but it needs a lot of stuff on it to make it look good! If you're interested in how I decorated this tree, here are some of the details and items I used.
- I put large tinsel garlands into the branches of the tree, tucking them into the more sparse spots especially.
- Green and blue ribbons went on next. They are both wired ribbons and I cut them into strips about a yard long to make them easier to place.
- Then I covered the tree with the brightest ornaments I have, especially focusing on Lego green, pink, and shades of blue.
- I added the Lego ornaments and the star on top of the tree, which I made out of yellow Lego bricks.
