Apple nachos are made by topping crisp Granny Smith apples with chocolate chips, sprinkles and homemade caramel sauce. With the apple slices arranged into the shape of a wreath, this is the perfect dessert for a Christmas party or a cozy night in watching Holiday movies!

Instead of fruit salad - try this Christmas apple nachos with salted caramel sauce!

I love caramel apples. I have always loved them. There is a store at our airport that sells caramel apples covered in chocolate and toppings. It’s become a tradition for my husband to bring one home when he gets back from a business trip. On a typical day, though, I am not going to buy an $8 apple from the airport, or fuss with making them myself. Enter, caramel apple slices, AKA apple nachos. Arranging apple slices on a plate and topping them with caramel and all kinds of sweet toppings is so easy. You can have what is essentially a deconstructed caramel apple in a matter of minutes!

With the holidays coming up, I really wanted to think of a creative, healthy-ish Christmas treat that would be great for parties. To make the apple nachos festive, I arranged them into the shape of a wreath and added a bow made out of pull-and-peel licorice. It’s so simple and takes all of ten minutes to throw together. Win!

How do you make caramel for apples?

Our homemade caramel recipe, perfect for dipping apples or drizzling over your caramel apple nachos, is simple and only requires 4 ingredients. Butter, brown sugar, karo syrup and condensed milk.

Apple Nachos Christmas Wreath - perfect food for a Christmas party.

What kind of toppings are good for caramel apples or apple nachos?

The toppings you can use for apple nachos, or caramel apples, are endless! I love them topped with diced strawberries, chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, chopped up candy bars, nuts, and sprinkles. You can also drizzle them with melted marshmallow,  chocolate sauce, peanut butter and of course, caramel!

My daughter loved helping me make these – especially adding the sprinkles. Sprinkles honestly aren’t my favorite topping as far as taste goes, but they are cute, so I usually add them. Do you love sprinkles?!
