Learn how to make Apple Pomegranate Salad, a family-favorite pomegranate fruit salad recipe for Thanksgiving or Christmas.
Do you have a go-to fruit salad that you like to make? Apple Pomegranate Salad (also known as Dixieland salad) is my family's favorite Thanksgiving Side Dish! It is so delicious.
Tangy green apples and pomegranate seeds are complemented by sweet and fluffy whipped cream.
It is not a holiday at our house without this salad.
I make this Apple Pomegranate Salad about once a week when pomegranates are in season! I'm not exaggerating when I tell you I can eat a bowl of this all by myself in one day.

It's super refreshing and light which I think is why it tastes SO good during the holidays when food is typically heavy. Kids love it too.

Last time I made it I threw in a handful of mini marshmallows. That was really good too!
Best Fruit Salad for Thanksgiving or Christmas
- It's green and red. Is there a more festive fruit salad out there? I doubt it.
- Pomegranates are in season!
- The combination of the tart granny smith apples, and pomegranate seeds with sweet whipped cream is just PERFECT.
Pro Tips
- You can make this up to 2 hours before serving time.
- Save leftovers in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
- Modify to your preferences. You don't have to be exact with the proportions of this recipe. Just throw it all in and mix the salad.
How to Prep Ahead of Time
- Deseed pomegranates up to a week before and refrigerate in an airtight container.
- Thaw frozen whipped topping in the refrigerator up to a week before.
- Chop granny smith apples and squeeze some lemon juice into the bowl. Mix until the lemon juice has coated the apples. Drain any extra moisture and keep in the refrigerator for up to 2 hours before making the salad.

Delicious! Such a great flavor combination that each ingredient brings! We added mini chocolate chips, which made it even more devine! Next time I will buy pre-seeded pomegranate seeds vs. removing them myself (it took awhile), but the end result was so good! It was a hit with everyone that tried it and will definitely make again... thank you for sharing!
