In a large bowl combine orange Jell-O and boiling water. Whisk until Jell-o is dissolved. Add cold water and allow to chill for 15 minutes in refrigerator. Slowly whisk in vanilla pudding mix until smooth and chill for another 15-20 minutes or until it becomes slightly thickened.

Fold in Cool Whip, mandarin oranges and marshmallows. Chill for at least 1 hour.

Pro Tips:

  • I like to let this orange fluff sit for at least one hour before serving. You can most certainly make this recipe the day before a gathering. I brought this creamsicle fluff to a morning playdate and everyone loved the recipe!
  • You can top individual servings in ramekins with a little mandarin orange and mini marshmallows to make a perfect Easter or Mothers Day brunch place setting.

If I multiple this recipe, do I need to multiple the chilling times?

That is something I’ve never tried so I’m not sure, but my guess is you wouldn’t necessarily need to double or triple it.

Thank you for sharing this recipe! I made it on Mother’s Day 2022. It reminds me of my late grandmother’s recipe for fluff. It also reminds me of a North western dish! It’s not as easy as it looks there are lots of descriptive words like “fold” in there. Its also considered quite healthy because of the Mandarin oranges I used ” no sugar added” Mandarin oranges. I also half of the whipped topping! But more marshmallows! Such a fun dish.

Half distracted me just made this and the moment I poured the pudding mix in I was met with the smell of banana… so I made it with banana cream pudding instead of vanilla, and yall, I am not even mad! After tasting it I decided the only obvious thing to do was add some shredded sweetened coconut! Holy holy!

The whole family loved the orange version of this recipe. Tonight I am trying this with peach jello and chunks of canned peaches for a peaches and cream version. Then maybe I will try it with strawberry jello and fresh strawberries and maybe even with berry blue jello and fresh bluberries. Oh the possibilities!

This was a great salad for a hot, humid Father’s Day brunch in the Northeast. I made the recipe as stated, and it was a big hit with my family. Since we do not have air conditioning, and I did not want the salad to get soupy, so it was served right out of fridge with no wait time. Good decision since it was such a warm day. I made this the night before so it would set up in time for an early brunch the next day. It did taste like a creamsicle. I used the Cool-Whip lite, and the family decided they should consume it at one sitting. No leftovers for father! Thank you for adding this recipe to my salad choices.

I made this last night & it’s quite runny…do I make the pudding up as I normally would or do I just add the pudding unmixed to the jell-o?

Hi there. I’m looking forward to making this sweet treat for my kids. However, my comment is just a general comment about your site: There are SO many ads that it’s hard to even get to the recipe. Perhaps consider fewer? Just a thought. ThanksQ

Hey Carmen! I’m sorry your experience to finding the recipe was negative, we try to keep our ads minimal but they are managed by a 3rd party. I think right now with the way things are with ad revenue they are adding more to make up for some losses. We want you and our other readers to have a good experience when you visit, so we really appreciate your feedback! We will talk to them about having less! :)

Please can you give an answer for the size of the jello in the pudding. I can’t believe on all these recipes nobody puts the size of the jello and the pudding and then when somebody ask they don’t answer so if anyone knows would you please tell me I would like to make this.

Hey Maggie! It’s the standard 3 oz boxes of pudding and jello mix. We are sorry that we didn’t specify that before.
